Hi all,
Just got a VersaLink B405 and I love the unit.
We also have a ColorQube 9303 as our main MFC, which has been essentially a lemon for a company like ours which does a significant amount of scanning to searchable PDF. It is underpowered and does not have the RAM to handle what it was positioned to do in it's price / performance tier. Slows the front panel to a crawl on a regular basis if there are any OCR scan jobs of a significant length.
The B405 smokes it into the weeds doing the exact same scan jobs. Again, I love it.
However, one thing I am looking for is the equivalent to the 9303 and other previous generation connectkey MFCs can do, which is scan to a single PDF more pages than the ADF can handle at one time.
Namely, the Build Job feature at it's simplest, which is, enable Build Job, scan the first batch, job pauses while you put in a second or even some odd shaped paper on the glass, then continue, then another batch in the ADF then hit done, and you get all of that in one contiguous PDF.
Is there any way that any of you know of that I can feed in 60 sheets, then have it pause when the ADF is empty,so I can put in the rest of the scan job?
Other than this, the little unit is now doing 2/3 of what we leased the 9303 for and doing it better, faster, and quieter.
Thanks all!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Look for the word Preview (I think at the upper right of the scan screen)
If you push that it will feed the document and show it on screen when done, at which point you can hit the + at the end of the doc and it will feed the new pages in the adf, you can keep doing this as long as needed then touch scan and it will send it all together.
Thank you yet again Joe!
Chris.
Hi,
How I can combine ADF and glass scan in same doc, using preview function. Keep asking me to put doc's in ADF (if I start from ADF) or glass (if I start from glass). Try to scan with preview from adf + glass.
All Xerox devices that we use before (7120/CQ92xx/WC5325/WC58xx) have scanned combined doc's (ADF + glass) whitout problems.
Thank you,
Amadeus

Same problem on B7025 (coworker confirmed).
The entire VersaLink family behaves that way so i assume it is intentional, but I have no idea why since it cannot be related to hardware limitations.
Beautiful...
AltaLink family same problem?
Is clear is not hardware problem.
Thank You for answer, Joe
AltaLink works like the other products, it has complete build job functionality and vastly more options. Yes, you can easily switch mid job from ADF to glass.
Is it possible to contact the software developers to correct this limitation?
Is a very useful function on the 7120/7220 why remove it on a new product?
I'm sure that at the software level it will be possible to do something.
Thank you
Filippo
I found out that if you use the Preview option job, It not only gives you a preview of the pages you have scanned, but the job stays active and paused after the ADF finishes pulling pages through. You can use that mode to then put something on the glass, or another stack of documents in the feeder.
Have a look at it and if you can't figure it out, post here, I will try to make some time and put a step by step together.
I have a VersaLink C7025 and if I start the work from DADF I can not get it from the plate.
