WC 6505 - SMB Login Error - Error 031-522

Hello again, and many thanks for your quick answer!

I have now tried to make the changes that you suggest, and change the port number to 445. But still I get the same error code on the printer disply. I now enclose a screen shot where the you can see the present settings in the CenterWare and the folder sharing settings.

Still I am a little confused about the log-in name and the password.And I am not sure about what you mean is the screen shot one in the beginning of this conversation. The password (the four dots), have occured in the CenterWare from the beginning, so I have not put it there my self. The log-in name I now got from the sharing settings as you can see from the screen shot below. I have two users: 1.) Fabriken  2.) Metalltryckning (apart from Administrator and Everyone).

For your information I didn´t manage to get a fixed ip-adress to the printer, so I instead used the automatic generated ip-adress according to Xerox manual. But network printing is working without problems. Only scanning is my problem.

I also have a similar problem with my Xerox 6505dn. I have just installed the printer driver on my new PC that is running under Windows-10. Printing is ok, but network scan to folder I can not get to work. I get the error code 032-522.

I have folowed the instructions in the manual but I used port number 139. But I now understand from above that it might be 445 in my case.

The password in CenterWare still confuse me. Now there are four dots that I not have put in the field. From where does the system get this password? Below I have copied my present settings in the CentreWare. I have not been able yet to test to change from 139 to 445 on the port number, if that can be my problem?

I have also tried to follow the steps in the manul to share my scan folder "Inskannat" the right way. I had little difficult to fully understand the meaning of the first answer on this post and the screen dumps included as I am not english speaking. Shall the password (four dots) be put in someware when I do the sharing, where?

I can send screen dumps on my settings, but I couldn´t find out how to attach files in my text.

Alright, i made the password the password the same as the one that i log on to the PC.  I removed C:\Scans.  I am still getting the 031-522 error and sometimes the error 031-547.

Should i change the SMB protocol setup to have the smae workgroup as the PC is on?

Other wise i am stuck again.

Password is to the account that is used for the login name, Password cannot be blank, if that account doesn't have a password yo uneed to create an account that does.

There cannot be a subdirectory of c:/scans, that is a full path and can only exist locally on a PC, not as network storage, just delete the entire line, the Scans above that covers the folder.

I am having a similiar issue but a little different. Here is my configuration. I have a HP Laptop and a Xerox 6505DN. I am NOT connected to a network or anything else for that matter.

I have connceted the Xerox 6505 printer via IPV4 to the laptop. Laptop is 192.168.1.40 and the printer is 192.168.1.80. I am NOT running any type of domain.

My issue is this. I cannot scan from the Xerox. I get the dreaded SMB Login Error Error 031-522. I have created a folder at C:\scans and given permissions to all the people who have accounts on this one machine.

On the Xerox, i have created an entry in the Computer Server address book,

Name: XXXX
Server Type : SMB

Host address of 192.168.1.20

Port #: 445

Login name: as it appeared in the shared permissions list

login password: THIS MIGHT BE MY ISSUE. I AM CONFUSED ON WHAT TO PUT HERE. THE PASSWORD FOR THE USER LOGIN NAME ON THE PC, A NEW PASSWORD OR THE PIN OF THE CONTROL PANEL OF THE PRINTER?

Name of shared directory: Scans

Subdirectory: C:\scans

Any all help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!

Check the permissions of the share and add the login to it , then type the login name exactly as it appears in brackets here:

Also, things to note.

1. Don't rely on Everyone having full control

2. The printer requires the login to have a password, doesn't matter what the local user does, if you want to scan, the loogin used by the printer needs a password.

3. Don't share a folder within a users folder (My Documents/ Desktop etc etc) If they want scans going to a folde ron the desktop, share it from the root (c:\scans) and right-click Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)

4. Generally speaking, if you are on Win XP or older the port is 139 for SMB, Vista and higher is port 445.

5. Everything is case sensitive

Heyo,

Short intro:

I'm the new System Admin for my company.

I received the WC 6505 into my departament about 1 week ago. Setup went fine, placed it on the network. It prints, everyone can see and use it from the network.

What problem I'm facing is that when it's necesary to use SCAN, it gives me that pop-up.

,,SMB Login Error

Error 031-522

Press OK Button"

Checked all the things i knew possible and couldn't find anything wrong, i do note them im a junior sys Admin, as such there are many things that I might be missing.

I'll be more then happy to give any information needed to solve this.
