Re: WC 7545 - TLS 1.2 for Office 365

Jump to solution

There are near always 2 versions available for any Xerox device, one is a General Release and one is a SPAR.

General releases are new builds thoroughly tested.

Spar releases are the General release with patches applied, they are not Beta, they are the same tested version with fixes and features added, the key difference is that while the GR got tested for everything, the spar gets tested for things that have been changed (So say they fix a login issue with Office365, they test that Office 365 works again, and maybe that it did not stop Gmail from working at the same time, they do not necessarily check that copying a booklet still works because the code was never touched that controls that)

Spar links tend to not change, so the link today is the same as next year, they just change the file it links to.

And you can get the latest for just about every machine except those in production class from Xerox.com/Security.

Click here in the Quick release lookup table which is a direct link to an excel spreadsheet that has the latest general and the latest spar for most every device, you can see it as of today here, but it doesn't move

Then, open in Excel (Or Google docs, or Open office etc etc) and CTRL+F to find the printer, and grab the spar link, as seen here:

I agree, not convenient, certainly not well advertised.

And here is my handy cheat sheet for "Umm, which one is actually newer?" (I did not make it, just compiled multiple iages from different sources into one graphic)

Wow, it works!

It's strange though. How come when I select the WC7545 machine with built-in controller, Windows 7 x64 and English (N. America), the only firmware version I see is the 061.121.224.18803? How did you find the one you sent me the link of?

Thanks a lot for the help and the quick answer.

Operating System: Windows 7 x64

Hi,

I use Office 365. I was using scan to email function previously. I didn't use it in the last months. However, now it doesn't work.

I was told Microsoft enforce to use TLS 1.2 now and that's why my scanner's scan to email function.

Does the WorkCentre 7545 support TLS 1.2? I don't see anything relating to that in the settings. If so, how do I enable it?

I've tried to upgrade the WC7545 firmware to see if thay would enable TLS 1.2. However, I'm asked to chhoose between EFI Fyre controller or built-in controller. I don't know what any of those are, but there seem to be no firmware upgrade available to download for the EFI controller, so I selected the built-in controller. There is one firmware upgrade to download, but it is an older firmware version than the one I'm presently using. I'm on 061.121.226.01300 and the available one is 061.224.18803. Am I missding something?

Thank you,
