yes, seen that issue also, its indeed hardware
on your dadf feeder, in the right side where you place paper, there is another sesnor, that one is broken, thats the one that detects if you place A3 on it
OR
you have some other paper laying on it, like a post note :)
Then you will need a technician, because it clearly isn't scanning the paper you are putting in, there is no question to it, it is scanning A3 in both jobs, and there is only the one setting to do that, since you discounted the only relevant option, the only thing left is hardware failure
It is in autodetect . I am scanning through ADF and not flatbed. Before also and in my other printer also it is autodetect only.
Someone changed the original size on the layout tab of your scan template to A3.(11.7*16.5)
You are scanning X sized paper and the MFP is scanning an A3 image area.
To find paper size, using the Rulers in Acrobat X, I can see the original page goes to here where the gradient ends, which is near about 8.25 inches, Guessing from that (Because there is no definition where the page ends in the other direction) I would guess that the paper was/is A4 (8.25*11.7) Which is exactly half of the size the machine is scanning
And Acrobat agrees that it is indeed A3
