Re: WC6605DN Hide Fax button

I don't have a 6605 near enough to test, but follow these directions for scan, disable the feature and see if it is an acceptable method for you. If it is not, you likely can't do it, and if there is an option for fax, try it to.

Limit (Restrict) Access to the Scan Feature

The Scan Lock options limit access to scanning by requiring a password to use the Scan function. Scanning can also be disabled.

To Set the Scan Lock:

  1. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.
  2. Select the [Tools] tab on the Touch Screen.
  3. Select [Admin Settings].
  4. If prompted, enter the 4-digit password, then select [OK].
  5. Select [Secure Settings].

NOTE: Enable Panel Lock before setting the service locks. See the Related Content section for additional information.

  6. Select [Service Lock].
  7. Select an option:
    • [E-mail]: Limits access to an e-mail service.
    • [Scan to Network]: Limits access to the Network option.
    • [Scan to PC]: Limits access to the PC and WSD options.
    • [PC Scan]: Limits access for TWAIN or WIA scans.
    • [Scan to USB]: Limits access to the USB Memory option.
  8. Select an option:
    • [Enabled]: Allows the non-authorized users access to the service. Service Lock is off. Scanning is on, no limits, no password required.
    • [Password Locked]: Allows authorized users access to the service after entering a passcode. Requires a password to use scanning. Enter a new password, then select [OK].
    • [Disabled]: Blocks access to the service for non-authorized users. Service Lock is on, and scan function is off. The [Scan To] button is not displayed on the Touch Screen.
  9. Select [OK].

  1. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel.
  2. Select [Tools] on the Touch Screen.
  3. Select [Admin Settings].
  4. If prompted to login, enter the required 4-digit password.
  5. Scroll up or down to select [Secure Settings]. The Secure Settings screen will be displayed.
  6. Select [Panel Lock].
  7. Select [Enable] or [Disable], and then select [OK].
  8. If Enabled was selected, at the prompt, enter a 4-digit password, then select [OK]. At the prompt, re-enter the password.
  9. Select the [Back] arrow to return to the previous menu level, or press the [Services Home] button to return to Service Home.

If you lose the admin account after this you will need a tech to wipe the device to regain access.
