WorkCentre 3220 printing via USB with Windows 8.1-64

My group has inherited a WorkCentre 3220. I tried to set it up with a Windows 8.1 64-bit machine (and a Win7 64-bit machine too.) I first tried to upgrade the firmware (to .105) since the latest drivers say they require it. However, the firmware update via USB simply doesn't see the printer. The built-in Win8 driver for the 3220 is also unable to print.

Is there some additional USB configuration required?

You did run the USB firmware and not the CWIS version correct?

Because as long as Windows sees the printer the utility should as well.

But if you can't run it from that PC or any other available, your next option is to put it on the LAN and run it through CWIS
