Removing a printer and removing a driver are not the same thing, to remove the printer you go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers and simply right-click and remove it. The driver is still there, to get rid of the driver you go to the same place, pick another device (doesn't matter which) and go to Print Server properties > Drivers and do the actual removal, you can also delete the port from the same window.
The other downloads would have existed for older operating systems, try Win7x64
Suggestions for resolving scanning problems in Xerox 3315
1. Uninstall the 3315 from windows devices and faxes. Close down the computer and restart.
2. Uninstall the driver. Close down the computer and restart.
3. Uninstall Xerox Easy Print manager. Close down the computer and restart.
4. Install 3315 in Windows, Devices and Printers, add a printer. Use the I.P address as its name and call it the default printer. This information came from Xerox (credit given) .
5. Install a driver. Global Print Driver
6. In the address bar (on your browser) enter the IP address and go to CentreWare Internet Services. Click Properties, Login ID= Admin, Password=1111, click Properties and go to Machine settings, System, Setup. Change the Hostname to the IP address. Click Apply. Don’t use the machine address until Xerox engineering makes a permanent fix.
7. Download Easy Print Manager. In the left column highlight the printer with the IP address
as the default printer. The scan should now work. The printer may work initially, but may
require a change of ports to print from pdf. This has to be done in Windows: Devices and Printers, select printer, Right Click, Printer Properties, Ports... Also, if you have several PC’s
on a network, you’ll have to make changes to them also for them to print. Would a proper functioning Hostname in CentreWare solve these problems?
The Easy Print Manager may be part of the problem. A firmware update is needed to address both the Easy Print Manager and the CenterWare program. The scan program in Easy Print Manager occasionally drops the default printer, the one with the IP address and uses the next one down (if there is such). Attention must be paid any time you use this Manager. Confirm that you have the correct printer as the default printer. To avoid scan problem, the proper default printer must the one with the IP address. If it is missing, go back to CenterWare and confirm that the Host is still the IP address.
Do not use any SPAR firmware updates as the most recent one will corrupt your machine and create more problems,. My experience with a SPAR resulted in an inability to print from pdf even though I uninstalled the SPAR. The problem was solved by Xerox Tech Support which suggested updating the Adobe 9 (which was officially no longer supported). The update files are actually on Adobe’s ftp server: ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/acrobat/win/9.x/
I have nothing, I cannot replicate the issue at all.
Back in the old days of Acrobat 6 there appears to have been an issue with printers in general. In this link just changing the default printer appears to have been the fix. http://www.justskins.com/forums/install-printer-78611.html
There are many such stories, the ones that were resolved almost always end up being an issue with the application having an issue with the default printer, so make something else the default and see what happens, if it works, try changing it back to what it was and see if it stays resolved. If you don't have another printer try installing a pdf printer just for trial.
I now have the older driver uninstalled and the global print driver installed. However, I am still unable to scan or print directly from pdf
as i could prior to installing the Spar firmware. Any further suggestions?
I would use the latest Global driver PS. I can't imagine how your print driver can be the same and have a different problem with different firmware unrealted to what happens to the job after it gets to the printer.
Do a complete driver removal from "Print Server Properties" and just install the latest Xerox Global PS driver.
I downgraded from the Spar firmware v 52.005.23.000 to firmware v 52.004.26.000 Apr-16-2014.
I presently have a postscript driver installed. The previous problems of scaning and printing from pdf continue to exist.
Should the driver be uninstalled ? Which driver should beinstalled for possible improvement?
Are any changes required to the Registry?
Thanks for your suggestions.
Clarification:
Initially I had the following version which had only one problem it would not retain the scan function. That firmware was dowloaded
from the xerox.com site. V52.004.2600 APR 16 2014
I recently obtained V 52.005.23.00 JUL18,2014 which is the same one you posted You indicated that there was a version of this dated Sept 14th . Is there such ? This version has the two problems which I indicated : Scan and printing from pdf.
The one you provided is the same one, the problems are the same: when you select a pdf for printing you get a message
... you need to install a printer.
From the configuration report:
