WorkCentre 5845 fax emailing AND printing?

Have you looked at fax forward at all? The only 2 options it has are to either print and forward, or just forward if it can't print.

2. Always

CWIS > Properties > Services > Fax > Setup > Forwarding

If we set up fax forwarding to an email address is it also possible to have the faxes print automatically?
