It has been almost a year, and there is no firmware update to fix smb. This is inexcusable! And Mavericks does not see my 6015 as either a Fax or a Scanner in the printer setup when connected via ethernet.
Thanks Tim and Cheryl,
I eventually discovered how to reenable FTP in Mountain Lion and setup the FTP service all running well.
Unfortunately the support centre (in the UK) were pretty hopeless and didn't know about the inability for SMB scanning or how to setup the FTP method. They basically just used google while I was on the phone and read the manual to me.
Seems like the setup in the USA is better. :smileyvery-happy:

Hi dgrover,
The WorkCentre 6015 does not currently support the version of SMB that Apple uses in OS 10.7.x and up (SMBx). If you want to scan directly to your machine you will need to scan via FTP. If you need assistance setting up the machine to scan via FTP, please contact the Support Centre.
Hope this helps.

Hi dgrover,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the solution for setting up the shared folder. Make sure to follow the second set of instructions for the Mac. If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
Hi Forum,
I have recently installed a Workcentre 6015 in the office.
I can print to it no problem at all over the network.
I would also like to be able to scan to the mac over the network via the SMB protocol.
So far I simply get SMB errors on the display panal of the 6015.
I called Xerox tech support but basically the operative was just using google and reading me the manual. :/
I have setup a shared folder on the Mac no problem as per the instructions in the 6015 manual.
I have also setup as best I can in the Centre Ware window.
I am guessing that the Shared DIrectory path is not correct or needs to be in specific format? Do I have to specify the complete path here i.e. Macintosh HD/Users/davidgrover etc etc.. (See image)
Its really not clear in the instruction manual.
Is it also right to use the IP address of my Mac or should I use the .local hostname?
I think Xerox needs to brush up their manual on this one!
Thanks for any forthcoming help.
David
