I know it has been a while since the last post, but just for what it's worth...
I scan lots of documents to PDF, and I use Acrobat Pro to OCR.
However, there are a number of OCR apps out there for Mac, and another possibility is to use one of those and create Folder Actions which would automatically open any new file in the Scan folder in the OCR app, run OCR, and re-save the file.
Correct, the machine does not have the option
Hi
Thank you for this solution. So there is no solution to directly scan a searchable PDF file (using control panel of the MFP) into a shared network folder ? Thx again.
The MFP doesn't do OCR/Searchable.
In the Windows world there are hundreds of free TWAIN Applications that can do it with this device, but Macs are a whole different story.
As of today, you would need to download the TWAIN scan driver from Xerox.com that is compatible with OSX 10.9.
Then you would need to disable SIP on OSX 10.11 just to run the TWAIN installer package. Then re-enable SIP.
Then it *should* install and *might* actually work.
And at that point you would then need to find a Mac software solution that does on the fly OCR from a TWAIN source that still works in 10.11 (Apple went above and beyond with 10.11 in blocking bi-directional communication with devices through new security implementations)
In short:
The MFP can't, but third party might, assuming you can workaround SIP
Hi
I bought a WorkCenter 6605. Is there any way to scan directly papers to folders on MAC OSX with options searchable pdf ?
Is there anything to buy to install in the printer ?
Thanx
