Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

Which version of Equitrac to you have?

Because you also bought eCopy, I would guess you have Equitrac Professional - correct?

Just asking, because I have almost all current Xerox models with the new ConnectKey software running without any issues on

Equitrac Office. Logging in at the device pretty much always within 2-3 seconds, which would be acceptable.

Now a few Xerox installed on an existing Equitrac Professional, and login times are closer to 10 seconds and occasionally

even time out.

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

n ShareScan 5.4 SP1 utilizes the more feature rich Webkit browser on ConnectKey Xerox devices. Although this new browser provides a better user experience, it still has known issues, therefore ShareScan offers an option to use the legacy ANT Galio browser on these devices. To do this, before device registration set the following registry setting first: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Nuance\ShareScan\ShareScanManager] "EnableXeroxWebkitBrowser"="false"

After this, register the device. This setting has to be set only at the time of the registration of the given device. This enables the user to decide which browser to use on each device.

Connectkey Xerox device firmware version 073.xxx.035.24100 (system software), where xxx means model specific value, is required by ShareScan 5.4 SP1. Contact Xerox support to obtain the appropriate firmware version for a specific model.

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

for ecopy there is a new hotfix available, especially maded for the new eip browsers on connectkey devices 73xxx versions

you need to install the hotfix, remove the device in ecopy, regeister the device again

it improves the speed

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

It's a printer and not a PC would be the likely cause, not exactly state of the art web browser built into it.

I have an entire lab full of MFP's at my disposal, what printers are you running that work so much faster with these identical remote applications? I'm interested since I haven't noticed any speed difference between say an older 7556, or an XC560, or a 7435 and any of the Connectkey family for accessing eCopy or Equitrac, but I haven't gotten a stop watch out either.

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

Newer firmware installed but makes no difference to overall speed. The main issue that needs resolving is that which relates to the slow loading of the remote UI, such as Equitrac and eCopy. If I load either URLs in my browser, they appear instantly with zero delay. However on the Xerox they take several seconds to render, as in the layout appears first and then the images begin loading.

The reseller suggested turning off energy saving, which cannot be done. One can only set the timeout to as long as possible.

Could this be due to a memory problem?

That's handy to know, thank you for explaining. I'll apply the firmware and see what happens and report back.

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

I certainly would not post an older version as an upgrade.

FYI:

When comparing ConnectKey version numbers to determine older/newer

1)ensure you only compare those that start with the same first 3 digits (073),

2) then look at the last 6 digits only.

General release : 073.xxx.075.34540 - 5=2015. 345=day 345 of the year. 40 is respin 4.

SPAR release: 073.xxx.066.08210 - 6=2016. 082=day 82 of the year. 10 is respin 1.

073…534540

073…608210

608210 is a higher number than 534540.

The fixes and features that will be in the 073…5.34540 (general release) are also in 073…6.08210 (SPAR Release)

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

The firmware you posted appears to be older to the one that's installed:

073.010.066.08210 (your link)
073.010.075.34540 (currently installed)

I'll have a look through the other things you've mentioned now...

Re: WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

Upgrade them to the latest version from here.

But slow is relative, copy, scan etc should load within a second. But out of sleep ours all take nearly 2 seconds to load whatever icon we select, everything after is about 600ms, once in an option like email or copy, there is a 400-500 ms lag.

Now comparing that to a flagship phone, horribly slow. Compare it to a midrange phone, not terrible, compare it to Konica/Minolta, Canon Imagerunner etc, pretty much on par in my experience.

Speed of remote apps will be drastically slower though, troubleshooting that requires Wireshark traces, once those are obtained, call Xerox, get to 2nd level and ask them to get the engineers to look at the trace and see if they can do anything.

It can't hurt to just disable McAfee and see if that resolves any of the speed issues ala CWIS > Properties > Security > McAfee Embedded Control

Capture.GIF

If it takes too long to print jobs from the LAN, that would likely be DNS, in short, the printer does a DNS lookup on all devices that send it a job, if it isn't on a Domain, or at least properly registered in DNS, this can cause an issue where it fails, but it will keep trying until the DNS timeout occurs, so make sure it is set to the minimum 1 second as opposed to 5-15 that Xerox suggests for the Fuji/Xerox controllers like the WC560 (Note, mine is not registered per the red text, so not setting this to 1 for me does indeed cause very slow FPO)

2.GIF

Normally I would suggest an altboot with no data backup and no clone be done, but since you have 3 with the same behaviour it cannot be corruption unless of course a clone file was used to configure all 3, which would imply the clone came from another device entirely (the 072.xxx.xxx.09100 firmware would have allowed that sadly). Only in that case do I think the Altboot, no data backup no clone method would work.

WorkCentre 7830 very slow UI

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

We have 3x Xerox WorkCentre 7830 printers, all connected to a Gigabit network (set to auto-negotiate) and running firmware version 073.010.075.34540.

Since the printers were installed a few months ago, the UI has always been slow to respond. This was also the case when the printers operated the firmware they were supplied with (072.010.004.09100).

Recently we purchased Equitrac and eCopy from our reseller which I'm told works solely by accessing a UI hosted on a remote server and nothing is installed on the device. However I am finding the Equitrac/eCopy UI is also very slow, even though the server its hosted on is a very high specification.

We spent over £7K on each of these printers and yet they operate so much more slowly than anything else in the company. Why is that and can anything be done to make them perform better?
