Frist of all let us know if you install " WorkCentre_7845-55-preupgrade-manual-patch.dlm" befour to upgrade the machine or no ?

if you installed 

Try to configure your SMB Scanning with port 139

Protocol: SMB 

exp

Name or IP Address: David-PC Port: 139
Share: scan

 

Make sure you configuring your DNS Correctly  ..

WorkCentre 7845 - I have trouble scanning SMB network, with the Host Name Resolution

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

I have updated the firmware of my WorkCentre 7845 System Software v072.040.004.09100 after the Patch Scan LL.

 

I can scan on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windwos 7 and Windows 8.1 only by entering the IP address.

 

If I enter the Host Name of the PC example (David-PC), I print the error Unknown.

 

Configuration that works:

 

Protocol: SMB 
Name or IP Address: 192.168.1.203 Port: 445 
Share: scan

 

Configuration does not work:

 

Protocol: SMB 
Name or IP Address: David-PC Port: 445 
Share: scan

 

I can not understand why it gives me error if I enter the Host Name, if I enter the IP address is all ok and it works.

 

Why not work if I insert the Hoste Name? 

 

My client does not want to put the static IP on the PC. 
My client does not have a server.

 

I think the WorkCentre 7845 can not resolve the host name into an IP address? 
What firmware should I install?
