When it started saying there was a jam, I was copying 3 pages. The first one went through but none of the others. There was no paper to remove. it just all of the sudden said clear jam in area 1. There was nothing there to clear.
There is no paper anywhere in the area where it says there is a jam. I have checked it thoroughly!!
Look at paper path where it has jammed. If it continues to jam in the same spot, there might be a piece still stuck in the paper path preventing the next sheet to flow through the machine.
The paper path is key to the solution. Open up side down and pull out all trays associated with this. The trays come out most of the time with ease. Then inspect the rollers for anything blocking the path.
A simple scrap can be caught where the sensor is in the middle top of paper trail. Please look to see if the sensor has been knock loose from its position from removing jammed papers.
They are easy to reset back in there seats, but sometimes it is easy to remove a roller or two to access this. Take plenty of pictures before taking anything apart. Just in case you forget how they might go back together.
Please let me know if you need more assistance. Can you share pics of the inside of this area. Maybe I can pinpoint the sensor that might be loose. Be careful not to brake when reseating.
I am having the issue of Paper Jam not resetting after you get all the paper out. I have a Xerox Workcentre 5135. Can you help me? I can not afford to call a technician right now.
Hey,
I had similar issue. Found that the little sensor got dislodged. I thought the worse too, could not reset for the life of me.
I actually took apart part of that side of the machine. Had to buy a small mm socket to fit small screws to remove. Then I found that the sensor snapped right back on shaft.
It took some time to look at and think about.
I have a spare machine, but do not want to part with any of the parts because of the age and trying to keep myself going.
Not sure, you might be able to purchase direct from Xerox. You would have to call Xerox direct and wait around while they connect you to the right department. They are always very thorough and make sure you get what you need.
Otherwise, you would have to call for a service call and have a technician come out. That can be cashy.
Gabriel sent me some pictures and was very helpful in solving my issue.
Good luck!
Gabiene! This solved my immideiate problem but I fear the small plastic lever is damaged in my unit. It won't "fall" back into place so the printer thinks there is a constant jam. I have to open the door, flick the little lever then it falls down. I think it was bent or damaged at some point. Any idea where I can buy a replacement?
That is the detail I need to complete this repair. Would have never figured it out from what you had mentioned, sensor. I was looking for an electrical sensor with some kind of light beam.
The fix was time consuming to get in there, but well worth the time that you afforded me to explain. The sensor was just popped out of its two seats that hold it in.
Thank you SO MUCH! This got me back on track and copier works fine. I know what I did to cause this. More than just ripping the 2 or three fed sheets that were jammed.
I need to use the bypass tray on questionable papers.
Hi,
Let's hope the sensor is just dislodged and not broken.
First, to have better access you must remove the little cover behind the cover A, After that remove the bypass tray from it's 2 screws and unplug the 2 cables
Remove the metal guide (2 screws) that cover the sensor and the shaft:
release the shaft or remove it ( it have a E clip on the left)
Finally remove the sensor (one screw)
Replace the sensor and put all back in reverse order.
Good luck!
Gabi
Yes, I see that in the picture you have submitted.
It looks recessed or broke. Mine does not protrude out. Looks like I will need to replace that. Would have never figured that out.
I do have another machine like this one that am using for parts. How hard is this to swap sensors?
I thank you so much for your input. Just a one man show and still trying to make some money with customers needs to output on paper.
Please advise repair.
Thank you so much for your help! Will definetly give you the highest marks I can in here.
