I have a WorkCentre 7855 and suddenly I cannot scan to email these past few days.
The error message I get on the printout is "Job Status: FAILED The job exceeds the maximum size or fragment limits set by the System Administrator"

So it isn't that it can't email, the issue is that the email you are sending is very large (High-res, too many pages, etc etc.)
By default the machine will only send a 10MB file, that can be changed to 20MB, it won't do larger than that. So set it to 20MB, and failing that, scan to a USB stick or network share and take the file to a PC and send from there if need be.
CWIS > Properties > Connectivity > Setup > SMTP (Email) > Edit
Then max out the File size box
