WorkCentre Scan to Network Error

Product Name: WorkCentre 7525/7530/7535/7545/7556
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

So, we recently had a refurbished WorkCentre 7545 set up at our new design studio, but the pinter tech could only set up one user to scan to a network folder successfully before he decided to bail. All users are using Windows 10 64-Bit and have all the same general settings.

The error I keep getting on the confirmation report is "Login failure. Check user password, and/or setups."

I've checked share permissions, reset passwords, and checked the templates several times and I keep getting this error for the other 3 users.

I've never had such a difficult time with a printer but can't figure out why one user can scan but the others can't.

Re: WorkCentre Scan to Network Error

Hi Grenadier_Homes,

Thank you for using the Support Forum. You do not mention what type of scanning so I will include a couple of cases that might have the solutions you need.  If you are using SMB workflow scanning please see these solutions.  If you are using the FTP protocol please see these solutions. If these solutions do not fix the issue please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

Thanks,

Re: WorkCentre Scan to Network Error

Hi,

Same problem on a WorkCenter 6515 and using Ubuntu Linux 18.04.

I was able to solve it in a really inelegant and unsecure way : all folders to the path to the folder where you want to send your scans to have to have "Guest login" enabled AND with "Read and Write" access.

So if you want to scan to "Computer => Home => User => Images" you have to set those permissions for the Home, for User and for Images...

To me, that sound like a MAJOR SECURITY FLAW... Unless of course, you create a user specifically to receive Scans from the Xerox Printer...

But this is really not convincing about the Xerox devices. Not sure I'll get another one after this one... quite the opposite so far.

Regards.
