I wish I had received this reply 2 weeks ago because I ended up calling technical support (based on fabio's suggestion) and was on hold for 45 minutes.  When I finally got through he told me the same thing that you wrote and it took all of 2 minutes.  Oh well, I got the solution I needed :) Kammie

After you setup the Default and Alt Repositories you need to create a template. When you create a template you will need to add the alt repository and delete the default from the template. This will allow you to scan to ONE destination.

on some machines you can disable the default template by a setting or by a hidden url or something

I have set up the Xerox 4250 with a default and 3 alternative network scanning locations.  When I select an alternate scanning location I do not want the scan to also go to the default.  How can I turn off that feature that all scans go to the default?
