Workcentre 3045 not scanning

Cant get my brand new Workcentre 3045 to scan to my iMac. Gives me the error message 'job failure'. Printing from the computer works. I have iMac operating Sierra

Do you have the model number wrong or is it "new to you"? Xerox no longer sells the 3045


And it scans by FTP (Macs no longer have ftp enabled by default)


And it does SMB1, and Macs use SMB3.


So something needs to be hacked to get scan to work since Apple and the device are not compatible for scan. FTP would be the easiest by far in most cases.
