Workcentre 3355 overwriting files scanned to FTP

Product Name: Xerox Workcentre 3335
Operating System: Windows 10 x64

Hello,

I bought a brand new Workcentre 3335, set it to scan to FTP folder via the "Scan to" function. It works fine, except it is not numbering the files, but it is overwriting one file all the time. I have never seen this weird behavior on any printer.

At default, the filename was DOC, the extension .pdf I changed the filename to scanned, DOC, DOC000..

Whatever the name is, for example "scanned", the machine creates "scanned.PDF" in the FTP folder when first worker makes his scan. Now second worker goes for his scan, and the machine creates again "scanned.pdf", and overwrites first worker's document - even without any warning. No numbers added in the filename, no time etc.

I tried to google some file naming options, but all I found were for 5xxx or 6xxx printers, I didn't find any of the options in 3335 or any way how to change it whatsoever. No special characters that will be replaced by numbers etc - nothing. How does this work?

thank you

Re: Workcentre 3355 overwriting files scanned to FTP

Now that seems annoying. I don't have one and don't have access to a person who does today. (I can't even find a reference to a 3355 that exists)

But, some Xerox devices can use codes, try one or 2 of these:

%D   date %m   month
%T    time %d    day of month
%Y    year %sn  device serial number
%H    hour %ui   user id
%M    minute %ji    job id
%S    second

So instead of DOC, you would use DOC%D%S as the file name.

Re: Workcentre 3355 overwriting files scanned to FTP

Hello Joe,

thank you - unfortunately this seems not to work on 3355, It stored these filenames:

DOC%D%S.pdf

DOC%D%T.pdf

DOC%Y%m%d.pdf

Is there any other way how to fix this? This makes scanning almost unusable in production environment

There may be another way, but I don't know it. I've never heard of the 3355, Google has a single reference for it and its only because the link is misnambed on the site (It is referring to the 3655).

The 3335/3345 models all add a number, so it would go DOC, DOC001, DOC002 etc.

oh, now I see... mea culpa, I made stupid typo in the headline, Product name under it is correct - it is indeed the 3335.

And no, it does not add numbers, there is no option to set or force this. I wanted to try reset it bud the only option I founs was reset network settings, not something like factory reset.
