Hi Rob,
I am not sure how to disable the speaker. The autoanswer delay is set to 0. I had tried other setting on it and the beeping stayed the same. The beep is a single, repeating beep. It is the exact repeating beep that an outgoing fax maching sends when searching for the receiving fax machine over the phone line. As in: Beep.....beep.....beep.....beep. Except it does this everytime there is an incoming phone call. We have 8 phone lines and it does this for incoming calls on all 8 lines. We are a bit tired of hearing it. ;)
Thanks,
Landy
Landers,
Very curious as I would think that should have resolved it. Did you try checking both the send and receive settings and disable the speaker in both places as a test? You may also want to check if autoanswer delay is set to 0. Is the sound you hear a single beep or is it a string of noises?
Regards,
Rob
Thank you, RobK. I disabled that a long time ago. It did not affect the beeping sound. The machine beeps as though it is trying to send a fax every time the phone rings. So, it makes the sound of an outgoing fax everytime there is an incomming phone call. This can be heard throughout the entire office. My co-workers are on the verge of mutany. ;)
Landers, you may either turn the volume down or off by doing the following.:
1. Log into administrator tools from the user interface.
2. Select "Service settings"
3. Select "Embedded Fax settings"
4. Select "Incoming Fax Defaults"
5. Select "Ring volume"
6. You may now either disable the ring or set it to low.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Rob
Feel free to Kudos this post if it provides the resolution you needed.
Hello All,
I am new to this community. I have spent several hours searching for a solution with no luck. Everytime our phone rings with an incoming call, the Workcentre 7556 beeps LOUDLY. It is the beep that is looking for a fax machine such as when a fax is sent. The fax function is set to send only. If I set it to send and receive then it picks up every phone call on every line but that is another issue. Can anyone help me get rid of the loud beeping or at least turn the volumn down?
Thank you for your time,
Landers
