Actually there is a elegant solution to this one.
Unlike our EXP250 Fiery RIP the Free Flow rip as the ability to use the auto switch scanning feature of the copier.
From your internet browser log in to your FreeFlow IP address, go to your scan setups and create a scan called
autoBW-Color300dpi Regular scans
autoBW-Color600dpi Maximum Resolution
autoBW-Color200dpi for emails
Don't forget to set the system preferences of the FreeFlow to autodelete scans after your desired number of hours - this is set at the freeflow, not at scanset up interface.
Or create only one and change resolution when scanning
The autoswitch will not work for jpg's as jpg's are only for color
However you may switch the auto switch toggle on if selecting PDF's
Now when you scan the docuent all images are automatically color or black just as if you were using the autoswitch function at the copier.

Hi k_graham,
For this issue I would suggest you go back to your sales rep. and see if they can help determine if you need a new RIP or if there is something else that can be done to adjust the gray issue.
We've scanned a binder of mixed color and black originals to PDF.
Standard printing of this prints all as Color.
Section 5-19 of Free Flow Server Color Printer Handbook indicates these can be done as Printing Gray in RGB when R=G=B using Gamma 1.8 or Gamma 2.2
Our 1 month old New Free Flow only offers MK50Grey as option, it only counts grey as color clicks.
Should Xerox replace our RIP?
