Xerox 6505 Productivity Kit- Does it make the printer faster when printing complex documents?

Thank you for using the Support Forum. I am not a technician but I can tell you that the productivity kit does not increase print speed but may help with the processing time of complex jobs.  If you are having long processing times make sure the Print/Image Quality mode is set to Standard in the print dirver. 

If the print job is complex, there may be too much information for the printer to process all at one time. To assist in printing the job, break the print job into smaller more manageable portions.

Installing the optional memory productivity kit may also improve processing of complex jobs.

Thank you for using the Support Forum. I am not a technician but I will provide the information I know.  From the online support solution for installing the productivity kit: "All printer configurations contain one memory slot supporting 256 MB, 512 MB, 768 MB, or 1024 MB DDR2 DIMMs, to a maximum of 1280 MB (256 MB standard + 1024 MB optional)."

As for print speed, the printer prints single sided at up to 24 ppm.  The print speed is impacted by many factors and is based on a standard business document on paper sizes of Letter / A4 long-edge feed.  Print speed can decrease due to paper type, paper size, printing conditions, or image quality adjustment. Please see complete print speed specifications in the online support case for Print Speed. 

Installation of the additional RAM will not increase the print speed beyond the 24 ppm simplex and 16 for A4/17 for letter ppm on duplex.  You can not install your own RAM.  If you have additional questions please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.

DON'T install your own ram- I tried it- doesn't fit.  Xerox makes a custom kit.  

that said- XEROX SUPPORT- CAN YOU PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION ABOUT PRINTING SPEEDS??!?  HELLO!?

I too need to know will upgrading the Ram increase printing speeds especially when printing duplex sheets?

I also need to know the type of ram. DDR? something else? Can i install my own type of ram?

Can a Xerox technician please reply here?  I am looking for a specific answer- does the productivity kit increase the speed of printing- right now it takes a ridiculous amount of time to spool up and print pages.

OK thank you.  Does anyone have any hands-on experience with the productivity kit and know first-hand whether it speeds printing?  right now I am just trying to print a 22 page BW fax I got on Efax and it has taken probably 6 minutes to get to page 22.  Each page individually prints really fast, but there is a lot of time in between each page printing...  I am wondering if the memory in the printer is simply insufficient for anything but text-only print jobs so it has to spool.  If so, I will buy the kit, but I want to confirm this.

Kit includes 512MB of RAM to expand your workflow options. Enabes the following features: Secure print, Proof print, Personal print, Saved print, RAM collation.

More RAM does probably mean faster handling time on the printer.

I am considering purchasing the productivity kit for my Xerox 6505, and I was wondering if anyone here could tell me if there are advantages besides the secure print and preloaded print file capabilities.  thank you.
