Yes, you can use DHCP but don't forget to reserve that IP on your router to avoid being changed in the future.
Using FTP to transfer files is the easiest way.

OK- will it obtain an ip address automatically through DHCP? Also- do I need to setup an FTP server on my laptop to receive the files?
Hi,
I'm not aware of that problem, but what I would like to suggest you is to use the network capability of the printer. Just connect it to your network, give an IP and your mac will find it. For scanning you can use scan to ftp, it is easy and you will feel more productive.

Hi- Can anyone help me with this error?
I am trying to scan a single sheet of paper through either the ADF or the flatbed part of the scanner. I have my directory set to dump the file on the desktop, and so far every failed scan makes a PDF there that is damaged with nothing in it. I then get this error on my desktop:
"Failed To Create An Image File"
My settings are color, 300 dpi, everything else is normal with no margins.
I am on a Mac, Mountain Lion, and have no other issues with printing or copying. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
