Xerox Phaser 3100 Scanner unable to be installed under Windows 8.1

Dear Sir/Madam,

 

I have been using for long time Xerox Phaser 3100 multi-functional unit, but now I have bought a new computer with Windows 8.1. 64-bit.

 

I have successfully installed the drivers for the printer, but there are not any drivers in the support center for scanner and fax functionality. I have installed and the proposed software: Xerox Phaser 3100 MFP Scan Application v1.3.1 but it doesn't come with any drivers for the scanner. The scanner is not working, but I need it.

 

I hope that you will give me solution in order to be able to use the scanner properly.

Hello Dimtar,

 

You have installed the correct package for scan functionality. The package in your link installs both the scan utility and drivers. After install and reboot the companion utility should ask if you want to install the scanner for USB or Network, the network portion is only if the device is connected with the wireless adapter, that wireless adapter was never made available, so our only option is USB.

 

Also on reboot windows should have assigned the scan driver a USB port. If this didn’t' happen it's possible you have a 3rd party firewall the is blocking that communication.

 

I would suggest the following.

1. turn off all firewalls, if windows then detects the printer after you turn it off and on, you'll need to contact the firewall vendor.

2. check the length of the USB cable; should be no longer than 15 feet and make sure it's a USB 2.0 cable.

3. Try a different USB port on the computer

I have the same problem, did you manage to solve it?

 

Scanner was working fine under Windows 7, but when we upgraded to Windows 8.1 the scanner is not working. If I download drivers for 8.1, I can see the drivers installed, but the scanner won't show as a device in Xerox monitor and if I try to scan, it says No device is detected. If I try the drivers (1.2.5) for Windows 7, the device shows in Xerox monitor as conneceted, but I still cannot scan.

 

USB cable connected is the same as before and fully functioning, I have tried to disable firewall and connect the printer to other USB ports. Scanner still works fine on another Win XP computer.

Any help here would be really helpful..

 

So far I have discovered my device shows only if I install it with Windows 7 drivers (1.2.5). It shows in monitor, printer works, but when trying to scan I get the message "The device is not ready".  I do not see the device when installing 1.3.1 packet. Using 32bit Windows 8.1, default language is not English.

 

Anyone else having the same problem? Or better yet, are your devices working without problems?

Hi, dady99!

 

According to the compatibility list, the printer does not seem to have full support for win 8.1.

Have you tried the WIA driver for win vista? If that does not work I'm not sure what will unfortunately.

Hi,

 

Was there a resolution for this? I have Windows 8.1 X64 and the Companion suite for my operating system doesn't work (driver won't install, only the software installs, language is not in English, doesn't show connection to the scanner)  If there was a solution I'd appreicate that because i can't scan to my computer at the moment!
