Re: Xerox Phaser 3635mfp seen on router not in windows

It shows as offline because it is no longer at the address it was before because you changed it, and it was offline before that because it was on a different IP scheme than it is now and was not part of your new subnet (Basically, it was on a 192.168.0.x address and the new one is 192.168.1.x, obviously this is not the exact schemes in play, but it is likely to be what happened)

So if you gave it an IP address that fits on your LAN, it will be viewable from your PC in a web browser (put the IP where you would put a web address) And if that is the case, you can simply modify the port in the driver.

Since you neglected to mention an OS on the PC's, I'm playing safe and betting Windows 7, but the steps will be near identical for all Windows versions.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Devices and printers and then right click on the printer and choose Printer Properties

Go to the Ports(1) tab and then select Configure Port (2)

Note you cannot change the name, but you can change the IP address (3). So do so and then click OK > Apply > OK.

It should work fine then.

Re: Xerox Phaser 3635mfp seen on router not in windows

I would print a config sheet from the printer, remove the old printer connection, and re-add the printer using the IP that shows on the configuration sheet that prints.

Changing routers could have caused your printer IP to change if your printer was not set to STATIC IP.

Just follow the same "add a printer wizard" in windows and select "add printer by TCP/IP or host name"

Xerox Phaser 3635mfp seen on router not in windows

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

If I can get some help in this, been working 2 days using user manuals and what not, and only had about 50% success.

We got a new Linksys router. Since doing that we haven't been able to print. My assumption was it had something to do with ip addresses or something and figured I'd take a stab at that. Why?

a) I checked my devices and printers, the xerox 3635 was greyed out and showing up as 'offline'.
b) I saw there was something plugged into the router, but we have 3 other things plugged in via ethernet into this new router. I knew one was our debit machine, the other two I knew were the printer and another router for our basement.

Went through one of the user guides (pages 10 & 11), and started fiddling with the ip addresses and such.

Now, our new router sees that it's the Xerox Phaser 3635mfp. However, even though the router sees the Xerox, neither computer does and it still reads as offline, which tells me I'm obviously missing something, somewhere.

We need to be printing important documents and are unable at the moment due to this issue. Please help.
