Re: Xerox Workcentre 4260 - Turn On Problem

Hi,

Try this:

Not booting up with message "Communication Error"

Unplug HDD then power up.   If it boots now and gives you a configuration error - select ignore and it will boot up ready to print.  You will not have network scanning, but will print from network.  It will receive faxes ,but will have limited sending memory:
  1. Try a Memory Clear, then reconnect HDD to test.
  2. Possible formatting of the HDD but replacement will bring the machine back to full operation.  Normally we would save info, but in this case it wouldn't be possible, before replacement/format of HDD do a clone, backup FAX phone book and EMAIL address book to save data bases - these are in memory but with HDD replacement these are all lost when booting with the 'new' hard drive.

Re: Xerox Workcentre 4260 - Turn On Problem

What was the 2nd HDD, because if it can't find its OS on the first one and displays that message, and then you put an empty drive in it and it displays the same faulty, it truly implies the HDD is the issue

Re: Xerox Workcentre 4260 - Turn On Problem

The fact that the top panel has been broken off the device and the amount of dirt on it implies this machine will be requiring a service technician and not a simple reboot or update the firmware response.

My guess would be that the HDD is no longer in it.
