Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Unfortunately the solution offered does not address my problem. I already know where to enter the base filename in the web-based configuration. What I am trying to do is enter a wildcard that will return part of the current date as the name of the file. I know it is possible to do, because I did it on this scanner about two years ago. I can no longer find the documentation and
In the file name field, it is possible to use a variable, something like %y for the current year, %m for the current month, and so on. I know it is possible to do this, but unfortunately, my example above is not correct. Second tier tech support also pointed me to the same solution you offer.
Surely somewhere there must be a list of variables or "wildcards" that can be used in the file naming scheme for the Work Centre 5050?
Thank you.
Hi sublunar,
Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at this solution and check out the rename section and see if this will help you. If not please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance.
The device is a Work Centre 5050.
We can scan to FTP server. Filenames are Doc000.pdf, Doc001.pdf, etc.
How can I customize the name of the scanned file to be the date of the scan job?
About 2 years ago, I managed to set the scanner up so that each file would be named something like:
yyyymmdd_HHMM ( 20130415_1835.pdf if I scanned right now )
The network card and hard drive were replaced, and I can no longer remember how I configured this feature. I am unable to locate documentation on the web. Xerox 2nd level tech support apparently didn't understand my question.
There are no explicit settings in the web interface for custom file names. My recollection is that I replaced the default "Doc" with wildcards. I tried %y%m%d, but that didn't work. I suspect I need brackets as well, or backslashes, or ???.
Thanks in advance for any useful comments.
