Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

switched to using the free smtp2go as recommended elsewhere. Simple and works perfectly to any recipient. Wish I tried earlier.

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

seems my joy was premature. When the recipient is a gmail address, this works fine. As soon as I use an external address this does not work. (mssg:"recipient email address maybe incorrect")

SO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. assume I will have to choose another SMTP- will update once solution is found

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

Finally have it working!

I replaced the standard  smtp.google.com with gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com.

I have made no further changes and all works now. Thanks for all the tips!

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

I thought it was not compatible but decided to look there given MRCAnalyst's suggestion to use the email via cloud option. It seems that is not an option on the 6515.
I am not on a domain (local workgroup so assume the fact it is empty is ok?)
(I am not an IT expert so maybe I am wrong)

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

Hello,

Your settings look correct. The only thing I noticed is you do not have a Domain Name entered. Here is an example.

Also, the WorkCentre 6515 is not EIP-capable and does not support the Xerox App Gallery.

I hope this helps.

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

Many thanks for your help.

I have made the change to "predefined" Unfortunately this did not work and I get the 027-779 error.
The scan via cloud is an option I will try but really would prefer to get this working.
Not sure about trying another smtp provider as I don't know enough about security and use this for other things too.
I hope you may have another tip to try?

My seocond (new problem is trying to connect the browser extension to teh printer to install teh scan to cloud app on the 6515 but it does not add device. the IP address is correct but also asks SNMP v1/v2 community name (defaults to private) which i do not know and default does not work.
There is a messgae go to device and log into the app gallery but i do not see this on the printer.

Re: scan2email not working despite trawling through suggestions on forum

Your setup looks correct in your screenshots with one exception.

'Login Credentials for Email Submission' this should be set to 'Predefined' if you want it to use the email and password that you specified in the SMTP settings.

If you're using 2 factor authentication, which I recommend, than your password is the app specific password that you generated. If you disable 2 factor authentication than you need to enable 'allow less secure apps' in the account security settings in Gmail in order for your MFP to work.

If you want to skip this whole SMTP setup entirely than you can install the free 'Scan to Cloud Email' app from the Xerox App Gallery and let Xerox handle your email sending.

Let us know if the simple change to 'Predefined' for the login credentials doesn't resolve your issue.

Dear All, since receiving this printer a yesterday, I am struggling with the scan to email option:

I have spent lots of time on this forum trying to copy all suggestions and clearly I am missing something, but I really no longer have a clue..

I am using a gmail account I use for other notification purposes, two factor authentication turned on there and using an App password generated on the gmail account.
(prior to that I tried the normal gmail password before I activated 2 factor and used the app password.
Throughout the process I have come across the following error mssgs, which changed as I made changes (last was most recent)
016-781 / 029-717 / 027-719 /027-779

Scanning to a folder on a pc works fine.

I hope someone can give me a tip as, by now, I am pulling my hair out:)

Many thanks! Jaap

The setup on the printer is as follows:Ethernet settings Xerox.jpgScanToEmail settings xerox.jpg
