Re: xerox 4250 network scanning

Hi DanL,

Let me start by saying I have never tried to do what you described. Neither I have a way to test it, since I suppose you would need a device like your that would support an attached USB drive, and being able to display this attached drive on the network.

That said, I suppose your network device authenticated with its own credentials and not using network credentials.

If you are able to browse to the network drive using a explorer from your computer you should be able to do it from the printer.

you can use the default user for your device hosting the usb drive. Also you can try usename/password anonymous/anonymous. This worked for me once, with a home network media driver.

In the worst case scenario, if you know which firmware version you had previously and which you have nowadays we can try look at changes.. but I will doubt it will mention something down this line... maybe revert to previous firmware.. but that also will not assure it will work..

Re: xerox 4250 network scanning

I searched the database before posting on the forum.  I also had already contacted the tech support at Xerox prior to posting.  They were no help.  They had never heard of trying to scan to a netowrk folder the way I had it set up and all they wanted to do was give me a different way to perform the task.  The alternate way would not work for the office setup we have.  My concern was that we had it performing exactly how we wanted it to scan to the network folders on the drive connected to the router and once the software update was performed, it no longer worked.  No one really seems to want to find the reason for the problem and resolve it.  I can't "accept" this as a solution, because there isn't a solution in here anywhere.  Wouldn't you agree?

xerox 4250 network scanning

Product Name: Other - specify product in post

We set up the 4250 to scan to folders (SMB) on a usb drive connected to our network router.  The scanning was working prior to a recent software update on the copier.  Now we get the error user unable to access folder.  The scanning seems to work OK when connecting to a compter on the network.  We are using the IP of the router, port 139 (I have also tried 445).  The share name is the folder on the drive.  the user/password is setup to be the user/password on the drive.  It has all been tested.  This was working fine before the latest update (software/firmware).  Can anyone help out to what could have changed and how that might be affecting my setup?
