Thanks for explaining the imposition stage use. I think I have understood you. I just need to recognise when I next stage is required now.
With the problem of having jobs complete with warnings, I have already managed to get some of my jobs through without an Optimize preset, and all of my original PDF's already conform to PDF/X-4.
Rehgarding your question about Impose, an example when to use new Imposition stage is when you would like to combine to different types of imposition. Say you would like to have a small booklet in A5 size two up on SRA3. Then the Primary stage would use Layout Signature to an automatic sheet size and the Secondray stage would do Layout Repeat to make the Booklet two up on SRA3. I have attached the Preset. This will work for all sizes that fit SRA3. You don't have to think about the number of pages. It will work for all files.
Try to put an Optimize preset which convert the pdf to a PDF/X-3 just before the Impose component in the workflow. See the attached screen shot. You can choose what ever profile that suits your needs as the output intent. Hope this help you to get the files through.
Hey Michael (great name),
I'm not reffering to the preflight errors, the preflight passed without any on the jobs in question. I attached a screenshot previously but have realised it is too small to see so I have attached it at full size. I've also attached another image to show the Completed Jobs tab.
See on the 'all Jobs' tab, the top four jobs were Comlpeted with Warnings, they are also present in the 'Comlpeted Jobs' tab but don't say Completed with Warnings. I haven't taken a screen shot of the 'Failed Jobs' tab but these four jobs don't appear there because it is saying it is Completed with Warnings. The upshot is, can I see and read what these warnings are? Because If I can't see where I'm going wrong, I'm left to just shoot in the dark to put it right.
I assume you're referring to preflight errors. If so, go to the Job Management & Status Tab. Failed jobs will remain in the queue until they are manually deleted. Select the "info" icon to the far right of the job to open the job's properties. There you should see a hyperlink next to "preflight report" where you can see the errors (along with a preview of the job).
Regarding multi-stage imposition, let's say you have a number of jobs such as business cards all collected and released as a group of a certain quantity that accommodates a ganged imposition (the primary stage). If after a period of time not enough jobs are collected and a timeout expires, then you might revert to a smaller sheet size step-and-repeat imposition (secondary stage).
I recommend that you engage your Xerox Rep to inquire about impl;ementation and training services. Training can be obtained in as little as 4 hour blocks and is very reasonably priced. The instructor can help you build 2-3 of your own workflows as part of the training.
Hope that helps.
Hi,
Any help with the above would be great, though my last question about the booklets is less important for now. I'd just really appreciate some advice and on the quirks of FFC as so far, it is proving a bit of a pain.
