Re: A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

There are no plans to change the FFCore licensing configurations. I have written a BUG against the issue you have raised. I recommend that you author a SPAR for the issue.

Re: A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

Hi David

I only have Advanced Prepress, not Advanced Automation, so the Split node is a luxury I don't possess,  Don't you think it's about time Xerox admit the Split node should be part of Advanced Prepress!

Being that many of the more involved imposition WF's require the Split node, what are the chances of this being so, anytime soon?

Furthermore, are you saying that if the cell clustering worked as intended with different page sizes, I wouldn't need to use the Split node nor the alternative WF you have kindly devised? If so, this is very frustrating.

Re: A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

Try this. I've added the WF -- but it is made using FFCore 5.1.0.4 (not released yet).

The WF consists of splitting the pages into 5 segments:

  1. pages 1 and 2
  2. pages 3 and 4
  3. pages 5 and 6
  4. pages 7 and 8
  5. all the pages after page 8

The two pages (e.g., page 1 and 2) are imposed on a sheet that fits (e.g., 288X210 mm) with cell clustering with horizontal alignment of left. The resultant sheet is then imposed with the page3/4 sheet on a 584X210mm sheet with cell clustering with horizontal alignment of left. Note: Cell clustering with page number over 2 should work with different page sizes -- but does not, forcing the 2 page impositions.

The bottom path of the split removes the first 8 pages and sends the remaining pages through split again. See images below for better idea.

Re: A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

It will be printed 'work and turn' so yes flipped on the short edge.

I tried the manual approach before, which worked well but I think it is having trouble with the fact that the pages in the incoming PDF are all different sizes. (I can confirm my trim boxes are set correctly)

Please see below. For the purposes of describing the behavior, I created a dummy PDF with circles and text which should meet flush to one another when imposed but you wil see they don't as indicated by the incomplete ampersand. Any ideas?

Re: A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

I cannot tell if the 2nd side slides out from under side 1 or flips on the short edge. One of the following impositions layouts should give you answer you are looking for:

  1. sequential
  2. manual
    1. page 1    increment 8
    2. page 2    increment 8
    3. page 3    increment 8
    4. page 4    increment 8
    5. page 8    increment 8
    6. page 7    increment 8
    7. page 6    increment 8
    8. page 5    increment 8

A5 8pp Roll Fold FFC Imposition

Hi there,

I have a client who occasionally has an A5 8pp Roll Fold printed. Half the time the PDF will come to us as imposed spreads but occasionally he will send it in as single pages with the bleed and crop marks on each page. It's easy enough to reimpose in InDesign but I wondered if there is a way using FFC.

Please see the images below for the page dimensions and the page order of the incoming PDF.

 Many thanks.
