Yes you can. Use the Text field in the Barcode node to define use of the MAX variable -- see below.

Can the Barcode node be linked to a data file

I'm looking for a way to link the barcode node to a data file so that a 2D barcode can be added to a large batch of pdfs for our mailing machine. would Max work for this and then would the barcode node be adle to accept variable data to a matching file?

 

Hopfully this will make sense
