Re: Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

The idea is to have two workflows/hotfolders.

The first hotfolder/workflow has two components (collect and save). The 1st workflow gathers the pdfs across a certain defined time interval (using the appropriate release condition) using the collect node to set the interval. The 1st workflow save node's file location is the hotfolder location for the 2nd hotfolder/workflow (e.g., C:\Xerox\FreeFlow\Core\00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000\Data\Hot Folders\Optimize Test). The output (via save) from the 1st workflow will feed the 2nd hotfolder. The 2nd workflow will have the collect-join-save components.

Re: Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

I'm not quite sure I understand.

This is the workflow: Collect ==> Join ==> Save

What's happening is the following: 1) Jobs are processed through a home grown application, as single up PDFs (the goal is to collect these into batches). 2) These single up PDFs are outputted to a FFC hot folder 3) The hot folder then pushes these PDFs through the workflow (above) which is then outputted into a save folder destination that the print room picks up. I don't want to send the PDFs to a hot folder save destination.

The problem is jobs aren't collecting when coming from the hot folder, like they do when manually submitted jobs.

Forgive me, but maybe I'm just not following your last statement, Mike.

Re: Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

Are you not able to create a hotfolder that will accept the jobs and the work flow for that hotfolder would have a collect node and then a save node to the desired hotfolder you want the jobs collected for?

Re: Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

Yeah, I am using the collect node and have the conditions set to release hourly. This works great maually submitting jobs, but it doesn't work when using a hot folder. The hot folders don't appeat to collect jobs. I'm wondering if there might be a script of some sort I could use?

Re: Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

Maybe you could you use the "Collect" Node? You can set this to collect jobs and release them according to the release criteria of which there are several.

Collect jobs using hot folders without using zip file

We are using FFC version 5.1.0.3. I am trying to figure out a way we can batch (collect) multiple pdfs using a hot folder and then pushing the collected jobs into FFC. Using zip is not an option. These are for picklists that are automatically generated one at a time through our home grown system. We are trying to think of a way to output these one offs and collect them in Core. It works fine manually submitting jobs. But this just won't cut it with our current automated systems. Any thoughs on how to do this?

The workflow itself is pretty basic: Collect --- Join --- Save
