Re: Converting Large File from Color to Grayscale

I did end up opening a ticket.

But just for information it's a 1000 page file mostly text but vector images on each page. Almost all pages need to be converted to grayscale properly. I don't have the specs on the server unfortunatly it's installed on our server that isn't accessable to me but it is using a server style CPU so it should be pretty beefy processing power wise.

Running Core 7.0.2

The one job I'm having issues with is a surefire crash but it does happen with other files usually if the page count ranges over 200 and the only modules that seem to give me issues are the Optimize and Preflight modules. I know we initially thought it was a RAM or Disc space issue we had our IT beef those up from prior issues we have had.

I've sent the diagnostic logs to service with the offending PDF as well to hopefully get this issue diagnosed I'll update this post with a resolution if I ever get one that may help others.

Re: Converting Large File from Color to Grayscale

So you may want to open a 'ticket' with hotline on the issue. However, let me ask a couple of questions:

How do you define 'large job'?? Is it page count, file size, complexity, all of these?

What hardware is Core installed on? How many processors, cores?

Which version of Core are you running?

May have a way to help, but need to understand these answers first.

Converting Large File from Color to Grayscale

I've been trying to convert a rather large file in CORE and I can get it to do everything I need (Rotate pages to portrait resize) The only issue I'm having is to convert from Color to Grayscale.

I've tried both the convert colour module and using a Preflight profile. The Profile will work in acrobat to convert the color just fine but when I try in CORE the module will fail and I will get a "Internal Error" This seems to happen with other modules as well when I'm trying to preflight or run conversions on larger documents.

Is there any resolution to this or should I open a ticket with service?
