I am using FFC 6.1.5 and sign in with Google through the Freeflow Configure like you show does work fine for me also. And the email notifications do work and the reset password link also.
When linking to FFC, Gmail does require you to grant access, after this box has been selected, you will get a security alert email.
Great sharing DavidU54339-XRX , thank you.
:) Dear Andy,
Email notification is very usefull in some case like customer need a Proof file to checking errors or need Report files,... Automatically !
I'm very happy when you have interesting about this topic :) after searching about this problem i have some knowledge to share with you:
- May be in this case we have to put Email passwords by Use 16-digit App password instead of Gmail password in https://security.google.com/settings/security/apppasswords (using email on window computer)
- The full name of applycation is '' Mail Alert Simple Mailer '' we can use this like Blat in some topic of this forum to make an external process to sent Email (Gmail in this case).
Thank you !
Well... I just tested port 465 with SSL on gmail smtp and... this setup does seem to be supported. Good to know!
No, I do not use FFcore.
I had tested 465/SSL in the past and could not get it to work either. I was under the impression that 465/SSL was no longer supported. And that the newer 587/TLS was the currently supported port and encryption.
There are many other settings (not documented) that I have learned that must be set correctly for gmail (and many other smtp vendors) to work correctly. And these requirements change once in awhile.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say "mail alert" or how that relates to smtp.
I don't know anything about FFcore or have a use for it. I just stumbled on your thread, and thought that I might learn something. Which was why I posted the comment.
Andy
Dear Andymbody,
Do you try it with your FFcore ?
I search the Google for it:
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server | smtp.gmail.com Requires SSL: Yes Requires TLS: Yes (if available) Requires Authentication: Yes Port for SSL: 465 Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587 |
The problem is, i try others port but I stll fail to connecting to mail server .
Luckily, because this problem i found some another way to use Gmail, like using Mail Alert :)
I don't know anything about freeflow... so correct me if I'm wrong... but...
... if this is gmail smtp, would you not use port 587?
Andy
Thank you David,
My FFCore Version is 6.1.0 and it haven't got this setting in FFCore Configure. I will upgrade to 6.1.3 to find it later.
Thank you again :)
I am using FFCore 6.1.3. To use a gmail email address use the Core Configure Utility and follow the prompts-- see below.
