FreeFlow Core and Safari 12 Support

On Monday, September 12, Apple released Safari 12 for owners of macOS Sierra & High Sierra.

With the introduction of Safari 12, Apple removed support for running most legacy NPAPI plug-ins, including Microsoft Silverlight, which is currently required to run FreeFlow Core in the Safari Browser. Consequently, customers who are currently using FreeFlow Core with Safari SHOULD NOT UPGRADE to Safari version 12 or higher until further notice.

FreeFlow Core continues to be supported on Safari 9.0.2 or higher up to and including Safari 11.1.2 on Mac OS X 10.9 or higher, as well as Microsoft Internet Explorer 11.0 and higher.

We are working to ensure that all modern browsers are supported before the end of the year.

Re: FreeFlow Core and Safari 12 Support

This should have been posted before today - it's a little too late for those of us who unwittingly had automatic updates set on our App Store settings. I for one can't use Core at all on my Mac now and it is very frustrating.

*For those still on 11.x.x: Check your App Store settings and make sure "Download newly available updates in the background" is unchecked*

Re: FreeFlow Core and Safari 12 Support

Users who are no longer able to access FreeFlow Core after upgrading to Safari 12 may regain access by installing FireFox ESR release 52.9 without the maintenance service as follows:

  1. Current Firefox users must change automatic update to: "Never check for updates."
  2. Uninstall or Remove the "Mozilla Maintenance Service" to prevent automatic updates.
  3. Install ESR release 52.9 and select “Custom Install.”
  4. When prompted, uncheck (do not select) the option to install maintenance service.
  5. Install ESR release 52.9 without the maintenance service.
  6. After install, but before rebooting, confirm that the update options is set to "Never check for updates.”
  7. Connect to the FreeFlow Core server and when prompted:

          - Activate Silverlight.

          - Select “Allow” and “Remember.”

During this temporary period until support for all modern browsers is restored in FreeFlow Core, ensure that you do not select the Firefox “Check for updates button,” and do not upgrade past ESR release 52.9.
