This is an extension of this tutorial:
Business card / postcard Imposition with customized banner pages for each imposed column
This workflow enables automated ganging of business cards.
As with the previous workflow, the Split component separates the banner pages and the business card.
Since each business card will be in its own column, the job is duplicated based on quantity.
After duplication, the business card or postcards are joined with the banner pages.
The Collect component then aggregates jobs for a defined period of time (2 hrs in this case)
When Collect releases jobs it will put jobs with the same print quantity into their own job groups.
The Route component will then evaluate the print quantity. Jobs that require a predefined print quantity are routed to Collect components for further aggregation. Jobs that require another print quantity can be sent to the bottom path so they can be imposed per the previous tutorial.
The Collect component will split up the job groups into job groups with 3 jobs in preparation for ganged imposition
Before imposition, the route component will divert jobs groups that do not have three jobs to the bottom path in the workflow. As above, these jobs may be imposed per the previous tutorial.
Jobs that are ready for ganging are imposed in two imposition operations.
The first imposition operation will impose the column. It uses the same settings as the first stage of the previous tutorial.
The second imposition operation will also use the same settings as the previous tutorial. However, in this case, the Page Order is set to Job Group
and the Collect Job Documents option is enabled in the workflow component
In the end, the workflow will automatically aggregate and gang jobs that can be ganged. Other jobs will be imposed using another path in the workflow (not shown but could be implemented per the previous tutorial).
