One more thing - lots of new functionality in that version...

Re: How to Configure Notification Setup without User and Password

That should not be the case. I would suggest upgrading to the current version (v4.0.3.0) available at xerox.com and then seeing if you still see that behavior.

One thing to note - if you have the variable data module you will need to retrieve a new license file as the format changed.

Re: How to Configure Notification Setup without User and Password

Error received is 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated.  This is because the program is apparently still tryiing to send a blank user name instead of not sending user info.  I'm running version 4.0.2.2

Oh yes - I missed that.

There's a Logs directory in the FFCore directory. I would test the connection, open the Logs folder (sort by the modification date) and look at the most recently modified log file.

Re: How to Configure Notification Setup without User and Password

As I mentioned in my post, it's not necessarily "open" as it has a small number of whitelisted hosts that can use it.  This eliminates configuring a user with a password that does not expire so tools like this can send mail.

Thanks for the quick replys!  I get a dialog box "Unable to connect to the e-mail server" when I click the test button.  Another application is successfully sending from this machine, and I can telnet to the server and port with telnet.  Is there a log that might give me a clue of where to look next?

Re: How to Configure Notification Setup without User and Password

Two things:

  1. I would guess I do not have to tell you this, but having an open SMTP server is pretty much a terrible idea.
  2. The above notwithstanding, if you cannot get credentials assigned tot he SMTP server then use a single space for both the username and the password

BTW - #2 is undocumented because of #1.

Have you tried to put a single space in the fields? This has helped in the past.

How to Configure Notification Setup without User and Password

Our e-mail relay does not use user name and password.  Instead, specific IP addresses are allowed to use the relay.  How can I configure notification setup without these two fields?  The Save button is grey until I fill them in.  Thanks!
