How to enable load balancing between two printers

Load balancing (which requires the output management license) is enabled in the Print preset using these settings

Using these settings the jobs will be distributed to the printer destinations on the list.

This is all you really need to do to enable load balancing.

In addition, FFCore also looks at the submission status of the printer to determine whether a job should be sent to a given printer destination

If job submission is disabled for the next printer destination to be used for load balancing then that printer destination will be skipped.

FFCore will always disable job submission to a printer destination under the following conditions

  • If the operator has disabled job submission
  • If the printer is not reachable on the network
  • If the queue is missing or not accepting jobs

In the last three cases, FFCore will automatically resume submission once it detects the error has been addressed.

Job Submission regulation is used to enable additional criteria for automatically pausing and resuming submission to a given printer destination.

Most are pretty self-explanatory. For the engine state we pause submission when we receive indication that the engine is down.

There's nothing in the load balancing itself that's uniquely tied to job submission regulation. The load balancing behavior is the same regardless of the reason for pausing job submission to a printer destination. The only thing that job submission regulation does it enable additional criteria for automatically pausing and resuming job submission to a given printer destination.
