Is there a way to save output files from Freeflow Core to a dynamic location?

Jump to solution

I am creating artwork dynamically for 100s of billboards for a customer. These files need to be saved to a specific mapping of sub-directories. I am able to create the correct directory path dynamically from substrings of the file name, but there is no way to insert that path into the save node.

Does anyone have an idea how to accomplish this? If anyone has a .bat external script node that can do the job, I would be interested in seeing that.

I have other needs to save FFC output to dynamic locations without creating individual save nodes for every possibility, and I would love to see this feature in a future release, unless it's already there and I'm just missing it.

I am able to use substringing successfully for the file location in the Save node -- see my setup below.

I tried using a setup similar to that and it threw an error saying the save node location was invalid.

Is FFC able to create a directory that doesn't exist, or does it need the directory to exist before copying files there?

In this particular situation, it may be dozens of directories and sub-directories and we won't know what the directories are until we have the data.

If one has the Advanced automation license, one can use the External node to create folder/subfolders. See attached WF. Note the .zip extension will need to be changed to .ffc to import the WF.

You may not have the version of FFCore I have so here are the details so you can build your own WF.

Note the .txt extension needs to be changed to .cmdp1.pngp2.pngp3.png
