Hi,
The file coming in was a .eps file
After reading your comment, i thought that maybe i need to run an optimize in the workflow before running the fixups and convert it to a standard PDF: this had the same result with the trimline around the media instead of the artbox
I also tried saving the file out of illustrator as a PDF first, and the result is the same: the trimline is around the media instead of the artbox
however, when i run the preflight in Acrobat using the KFP, it does show the correct sized artbox:

any ideas?
Can you run some preflight in Acrobat and check the boxes of your pdf to see if your ArtBox has a different size than the TrimBox. I don't know what software you are using to create the pdf but if I export a pdf from InDesign with bleed, then the ArtBox is the same as the TrimBox, so your preflight using ArtBox and the one I did with TrimBox will then give the same result.
Hi,
Attached is my fixup with artbox selected
The output file from Freeflow is still giving me the outline around the artwork,
I will try the alternative to using a split, great idea!
I couldn't find the attachment button on this forum but i've linked the .kfp via wetransfer below:
You need the Advanced Automation module for Split. If you don't have Split a possibility could be to setup a workflow for the "printfile" with a Save component that saves to a hot folder for the workflow for the "cutline".
The "Outline page geometry boxes" can be set to use TrimBox, ArtBox, BleedBox and CropBox. I don't know why you can't make it work using anything other than TrimBox. Can you attach your kfp.
Anyway, for the "Outline page geometry boxes" you can use offset values from the chosen geometry box:
You can also specify these as variables if you like by clicking on the orange triangle at the end of the row. I have attached one that has variables for the offset values using mm. You can then change the value in FreeFlow Core instead of creating a new kfp every time you need to change any value.
Just to add on to my last post,
I just realized it's done through the preflight tool on Acrobat.
If i need the trimline made on the "Artboard" (not around the outer perimeter of the bleeds)
How would I specify this in Acrobat?
I tried a KFP on "bleedbox" and "artbox" but both are still outputing the same result from Freeflow as "trimbox"
Hi Stefan,
The test worked!
I got the two files
The cutline isn't where i need it to be though, where can i adjust this?
Where are fix ups created/modified?
I believe i have the Freeflow Core advanced prepress module, will this version me to use this split feature?
Thanks!
Hi,
You can have two separate save components or just one. If you for instance will apply the same watermark on both and only use one save component, the workflow can be like this:
You can then select Append Rule Name to Job Name in the initial Split component to save the two files with a unique name (otherwise one will overwrite the other). In this example "cutline" will be added to the job name in the top branch and "printfile" will be added to the job name in the bottom branch.
