Re: Not possible to define a number of signatures via MAX variable?

Jump to solution

Unfortunately,  "Define number of sheets per signature" does not support the use of FFCore variables.

An alternate solution is to use a Route node. Each branch can have a different imposition node using a different  "Define number of sheets per signature" value. The Route node's job characteristics can be defined to use a MAX variable -- see below

Not possible to define a number of signatures via MAX variable?

Jump to solution

For books we use signatures of varying sizes, from 3 to 7 sheets per signature.

Currently we have a separate Impose node for each of those variants, but I wanted to see if it was possible instead to have just one node for everything, and supply the number of signatures via a MAX variable.

However, it seems to be impossible? In the Impose node the option "Define number of sheets per signature" only accepts fixed number, not a variable.

Exact same problem with the Pressmarks node, which we use to place shifting sequence marks on the 1st page of each signature - the interval in which these marks are placed is varied depending on the number of sheets in a signature, and it is defined in Placement -> Page Selection : Page Intervals, but that too only accepts fixed numbers, so each variant requires a separate node, even when nothing else is different between these nodes.

Is there any way around this, some way to use just one node for both of the abovementioned cases?
