Contact Xerox support. This appears to be a BUG.
Yes, I had the variable data license with the trial. Now I am testing on another computer that has the productive variable data license and has the same result, processes vipp files with extension only.
in the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Xerox\VIPP\xvinip\bin\xgf\demo there are VIPP files to test, with and without extension. If the file "goljobv" file is submited (by lpr, hotfolder or submit Job process), it is faulted, but if the extension .lm is added to the file then it is processed and the PDF file generated.
Do you have the variable data license with the trial (see below)? This is needed to process VIPP input.
The FreeFlow Core Help (User Guide) says:
"When the Variable Data license is enabled, FreeFlow Core also accepts VIPP Project Containers (.vpc)
and VIPP (.dbf, .vpn, .nm, .lm) files. Also, files without an extension or with an unknown extension are
processed through VIPP conversion if they include VIPP commands."
I already tried also installing the license but in the same way it does not accept files without extension. From some systems it is difficult to send files (spools) with some extension so I am looking for a way for FreeFlow core to accept these files.
I also tried installing version 5.4.5 but it gives the same result.
FFCore Job Submission allows submission of files with specified extensions. If a file does not have one of these extensions, FFCore prevents submission. One can see the accpetable extension when adding a document with the Submit Job GUI.
I installed FreeFlow Core version 6.0 trial, all VIPP files without extension fail to be submitted locally or when entered by lpr command. If an .lm extension is added to them then they are processed correctly.
