Mr. Ken,
Thanks. I will explain to customer.
So in order to control numbering (easily) you want to have a starting file that might have 30 pages (coupons) in it that are NOT imposed. Varying colors as they want. NOT 1 page pdf with 30 coupons on one page. When they are already imposed it is much harder to number.
The workflow will COPY the 30 page pdf X number of times to build the number of total pages they want.
Mr. Ken,
I understood from your workflow that in order to do sequential numbering for N number of coupons on one sheet, we should have a single PDF file of same N numbers of coupons. Then we can repeat that single file for N number of times to get multiple sheets with sequential numbering.
So should i inform to my customer that he has to give single PDF file having N number of coupons instead of a file having N number of coupons already imposed on single sheet if he want sequential numbering.
Please confirm, because this is our first customer for free flow core.
Mr. Ken,
Pls ignore my last reply. i will send you another reply with some editing.
Mr. Ken,
I have attached the original file of customer and the processed file with same workflow send by you.
As you can see that in original file the coupons are of different colors, whereas in the processed file all the coupons are of same color and the first row and last row coupons are half in size.
Secondly the customer wants the numbering should increase in coloumn from top to bottom and not in rows from left to right.
Can you please explain why it is like this and how to resolve.
ORIGINAL FILE FROM CUSTOMER
PROCESSED FILE WITH SAME WORKFLOW
Thanks a lot Mr. Ken. I have downloaded the file. Will try tomorrow and update you.
For now lets keep it simple and ignore trying to use external scripting. Attached is a .zip file that requires version 7.0.3 of Core to import. It will setup a hotfolder for using a MAX data file, it provides a sample .csv file and a sample 'TicketFile.pdf'.
Open the README.TXT file to understand the pieces of the workflow.
Drop the .csv file into the hotfolder and the job should process.
You can of course manipulate the presets to align the numbering etc where you want.
Mr. Ken,
Thanks for your reply. Can you please advise more on scripting for this workflow, because i never did scripting earlier for any workflow.
I would suggest that this be done by using MAX and a data file as the number (ticket file, start number, quantity of tickets). I would also have the original file as 1 up tickets. Then I think a small amount of scripting could be done that counts the number of pages in the ticket file, and of course looks at the total desired ticket count. Then X number of copies of the ticket file could be made to complete 200 sheets. If it is 'always' the same number of tickets then this could just be static.
Next with the 1 up tickets, you can use the page numbering preset to place the number and increment the page number. Of course the page # is based on the data from MAX. After all the tickets are numbered, then do an imposition to fill each sheet with the 30 up tickets in the desired sequence.
