Re: mixed pages job

If your PDF file contains different page sizes, like letter and legal, you can specify that the pages print on the correct paper size. The Choose Paper Source setting tells a printer to select the paper tray that best suits each page.

Re: mixed pages job

Hi Javier,

i would like to give a note.

Today i tested the XEROX Versant 180 with EFI NX, and i'm pleased to tell you, that FFC now can see the sequential print queue at the Fiery!

So, maybe the guy's from EFI had heard the request.

That will make some things easier.. :)

Kind regards

Matthias

Re: mixed pages job

The print component in FFCore is IPP based. However, you can print using LPR with the external component.

You can see details here: http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/FreeFlow-Core/LPR-printing-via-the-external-component/m-p/173936#M...

However, I am not sure how the ticketing would be carried through if you use LPR for printing.

Re: mixed pages job

Hi Javier,

thanks for your reply.

I did use MAX with for input the number copies, and "collect job documents" for sorting the files regarding the file names.

(A3.pdf - A4.pdf - A5.pdf). That works, but i think your way is more elegant :).

But giving the files to a sequential queue at the Fiery, don't work.

I did write to the guys from EFI and got an answer that IPP (like FTP and E-MAIL printing) is not supported for sequential print queues.

"..

This is a limitation on this product. Please raise a feature request to Xerox if needed."

:(

Ist there mayby a way to use LPR for printing, or any other way to make this work?

The last Question about A5 LEF/SEF i solved with a defined media in MAX Setup csv file and the Paper Catalog at the Fiery.

Thanks for your support!

Matthias

Re: mixed pages job

Questions:

- how can i make sure the printing order (A3 -> A4 -> A5)

This requires two things:

  • submit the files as part of a job group (point the Order ID and Group Key in the MAX Setup to a column in the CSV that has the same  value for all files you want together)
  • enable the Collect Job Documents option in the Print component. This will ensure that the jobs are submitted in FIFO sequence to the Fiery.
    • Note - this is part of the output management license in FFCore
  • Ensure you have sequential printing enabled for the Fiery Virtual Printer - this will ensure files are printed in the order in which they are received

The above will give you n copies of A3, followed by n copies of A4 and n copies of A3.

- Fiery is always asking for A5 LEF - how to change this to SEF?

This is a question for EFI. I would ask that you escalate this to the hotline.

mixed pages job

Hi all,
i got a request for printing mixed paper sizes in one job at a stack.

the job is for example:

10 Pages A3
20 Pages A4 LEF
15 Pages A5 SEF

printing at 1 stack at the upper tray of a Versant 80 (Fiery EX)

first print A3, then A4 LEF, then A5 SEF on top - in this order.

i made a workflow with input over Hotfolder.
i define the filenames and number of copies in a csv file.
...copy the csv file and the 3 data files to the hotfolder lead to 3 jobs with the right number of copies at the Fiery.

but there are two problems...
- how can i make sure the printing order (A3 -> A4 -> A5)
- Fiery is always asking for A5 LEF - how to change this to SEF?

thanks for any help

Matthias
