CQ8580 power consumption at start-up for UPS use

For the record,

I connected a 480W UPS and it works perfectly with CB8580. I cant tell for sure for how long it can keep the printer "alive" after power failure (I only plugged the UPS off the wall plug for a few minutes) but it does work with no problems at start-up .

Hi Raveler,

sorry for delay follow-up. I was talking to some colleagues at Hardware that said the printer when booting up from a shutdown status, could, depending on several factors reach the 4x more the high W I mentioned.

Unfortunately I have no way to confirm this with a document and to be 100% sure you would have to ring support and get this confirmed from HW. Nevertheless, I would not expect a bootup scenario when pluged to an UPS.

It shouldn't ever exceed the 283 Watts, and if it did it would have to be during it's initial boot, which would never be done while powered by a UPS. If your power is out I can't fathom why you would be booting up a printer. But if the power went out mid print job of a high quality photo, it would just chug along at the max 283 Watt Print (Enhanced) rate then lower.

I need to make a follow-up question thought. What is the power consumption of CQ8580 during start-up? It uses 283W during printing which is low enough to be supported by most UPS devices. But does this power consumption increase during start-up? (i.e. put the printer ON again after shutdown).
