Then set the IP address of the printer as the gateway on the PC and vice versa. It should still work that way
Most of that solution worked fine. However, the printer had a pre-entered IP address and Gateway address and Subnet mask, and when I tried to change only the IP address, or when I tried to delete the Gateway address, it returned an error.
The preset values were:
IP Address: 192.168.2.17
Gateway: 192.168.2.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Edit: I should add that the WC 7535 was purchased used, rather than new.
You have to use a crossover cable to connect 2 devices without a router, so the direct connect won't work with a regular LAN cable
With a switch, you can use 2 regular LAN cables, but since there is no router/gateway, you have to assign very specific settings or the 2 devices can't find each other (That is what a router/gateay does)
Since I can't know your network, I have to provide typical numbers that can be used, assuming neither is hooked up to the network, and that they are just 2 devices hooked together, either by switch or by crossover cable.
From the Windows 7 client Workstation do the following;
IP Address: 10.1.1.1
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: [leave-it-blank]
DNS Servers: [leave-it-blank]
From the Printer
IP Address: 10.1.1.2
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: [leave-it-blank]
Save and exit.
Now you should be able to print from the PC to the printer via its IP address of 10.1.1.2
Hi,
I'm trying to hook up this Xerox WC 7535 to a family member's computer, so that they can use it to print.
When I found it, they had rigged up a network cable between their computer and the WC 7535, but that showed zero connectivity. I had them purchase a network switch and install it so that they could connect the WC 7535 to the switch, as well as their computer. However, that also appears to have failed. I briefly connected the internet to the switch, and they were able to connect to the internet, so it does not appear to be a problem with the switch.
I attempted to follow the manual for installing the WC 7535, but there appears to be neither an online manual nor an installation disk. I did attempt to ping the WC 7535 from the computer using the IP address, but that resulted in 4 lost packets. I am not very familiar with computer networking.
