I should also note, this is in the latest version of CWW. Also, all of the WorkCentre machines are running the absolute latest firmware.
I am able to add a device to CentreWare Web (CWW) successfully and maintain a solid connection until the device goes offline for a short period of time. For example, I can add a WorkCentre device to CWW and it will connect successfully and retrieve all data as usual. A week later there may be an unexpected network outage for a short period of time; when the network returns to normal, the machine will stop reporting to CWW and will never report to CWW again until I manually remove and re-add the device.
Currently I have 164 devices visible in CWW, but only 128 are reporting data successfully. Even when I go into the device and refresh, it will still fail to connect.
Does CWW have any re-discovery functionality? Should CWW be re-recognizing these devices at the next status read? How does CWW communicate with these devices (IP Address, DNS name, etc.)? Could this be due to a short DHCP lease? Is it caused by a failure in reverse DNS?
I could really use some help on this as removing and re-adding these devices on a regular basis is a full-time job of its own. I regularly have machines stop communicating with CWW, I’m assuming it’s because the users turn off the printer.
I have also used XDA and it seems to have the same effect, I still lose machines regularly and they never come back online (with respect to XDA).
