Nature of the beast, it cannot be disabled.

Solid ink is nothing like toner, you put a solid block in and it heats it, liquidizes it and feeds it through small tubes to a feed head that puts it on the paper. When you shut it off, it cools, so it needs to feed it out of the lines (otherwise it will solidify in them due to the no heat thing). So the lines are empty, when you turn it back on, it heats the ink to get ready, for use and primes the lines, to make sure the feed head doesn't clog it needs to do an impression.

Solid ink printers are designed to not be turned off because of this, that is why they have so many energy saver settings. If you need a machine you can unplug and use only occasionally, for your next printer at least, stay clear of solid ink.

Here is a Xerox link about the differences. Here is a non manufacturer link

Is there a way to stop the printer from printing cleaning pages every time I turn it on? I only use the printer once a week or so, so don't want to have to leave it on all the time, but the cleaning pages use up an absurd amount of colored ink.
