I am looking to upgrade the software on one of our WorkCentre 7835's to ConnectKey 2016 (073). Looking over the upgade notes on the website it states:
"If the LDAP feature for Scan to E-mail or Network Authentication is being used, you may experience issues using these features following the software upgrade or reload. If issues occur, contact Support for additional assistance."
Is there a SPAR release available that i could get to have on hand incase the issue arises? Would like to minimize the downtime of this machine and avoid the guess work on wether or not i will need to call in to support.
Also, how has the stability with the Automatic upgrade tool been so far? I could be wrong but seems like a newer tool and will be first time attempting to use it.
thanks for the help

Latest spar is here.
The tool is (speaking as a Xerox 2nd level rep) the best thing Xerox has ever done for us. It has in the 3 months it has been available, nearly eliminated the Altboot no data backup no clone thing. You no longer have to lose settings just to go from a major release to another (071-072-073), in fact, we have routinely brought machines from Launch firmware to the absolute latest with no issues and no data lost.
Outside of North America, I have been informed of oddities, but nothing really breaks, things like paper sizes going from A4 to Letter,mm to inches and the like. These can all be changed back, it just loses them at some point in the update.
The link I gave *should* always bring you to the latest spar release for the 2016 versions.
The 2016 releases all have the ability to wipe all data from the device, which completes the altboot process on its own, from within the machine, so no need for a USB load with special formatting and files.
The tool is part of the firmware, not separate.
I linked the tool installer, which is a jar file that contains the installer and all the firmwares and patches required to get you current no matter your configuration.
The plan is to have both versions available at all times forthcoming.
Yes, and I suggest it.
Nope, and it would likely break the network if you were to try.
This thing is stuffing 600-900MB at minimum into the MFP via network. For up to an hour.
Multiply that by 90 machines, and it would need to correctly identify each of them, and figure out which ones required patches, and which required sequential loads (Going from 071, to 072, to 073 and patches between each)
even if you had 20 devices i would recommend staggering the upgrades anyway incase of failure your not trying to frantically fix a bunch of devices.
the success i have had is picking a location, getting 4-5 other guys, each take a machine and let it rip! ive never been a fan of using the CWW to do the upgrade so ive always done upgrades at the machine its self.
OR if you have a service contract and wanted to be mean you could place a service call to have a tech do the install :)
sorry revive an old thread...
If i need/want to roll back from 073 to 072 will it be as complicated as before or can i use the upgrade tool to do that as well? i am more or less going to install this software on a 7835 we currently have to fimiliarize my self with it before our 50+ new fleet get delivered next quarter with the new software.
