I'm not sure what did it but I tried the following first:
1. Checked Remove this Device's IPv4 DNS Registration (as you suggested). Didn't help.
2. Checked Remove this Device's IPv5 DNS Registration at power down. Didn't help.
3. Unchecked Append Device Domain. Didn't help.
I then restarted the machine. Voila, that worked. I think if I had gone with just #1 as you suggested and restarted the machine, it may have indeed resolved the rabid-query issue. Thanks!

Yup, that is pretty excessive. My first "shot in the dark" would be to release it's DNS registration and see what happens.
I have never seen a report of this previously, so I have no quick fixes
My Xerox WorkCentre 7535 is doing DNS queries about 135 times per minute (wow!). I did a packet capture to see what's it doing and all I saw was that it was trying to query its own host name, and it is getting back the correct respond. Is there a reason why it's query the DNS excessively for the same record over and over? Has anyone experienced this before?
Sample packet capture (name x'd out):
No. Time Source Destination Prot Len Info
257 62.943055 10.10.130.3 10.10.40.2 DNS 75 Standard query 0x55b8 A p1-xx.xxx.xxxxx
258 62.957548 10.10.40.2 10.10.130.3 DNS 91 Standard query response 0x55b8 A p1-xx.xxx.xxxxx A 10.10.130.3
And, yes, I've already restarted the printer. Thank you for your assistance.
